Have your say - Alcohol and drug strategy

The draft South Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy 2024-2030 has been approved by the South Australian Cabinet.

Now the South Australian community is being invited to have their say in reducing and preventing the harms caused by alcohol and other drugs. Community consultation is available at South Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy 2024-2030 | YourSAy. Submissions will close on 23 July 2024. The feedback will be used to inform the development of the Strategy.

The draft South Australian Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2024-2030 focuses on five priority areas:

  1. Health promotion and prevention
  2. Disruption and supply reduction
  3. Early and targeted intervention
  4. Treatment and support
  5. Engaging communities.

Additionally, the draft Strategy has an increased focus on workforce development, and evidence and data systems.

The draft Strategy acknowledges that alcohol and drug related harms are not experienced equally across populations, and that these harms may be exacerbated by disadvantage and stigma.

The Strategy has been developed by SA Health and SA Police in consultation with a number of government and non-government partner agencies.
