If you'd like to join a Neighbourhood Watch Area you can start by going along to their next meeting. Neighbourhood Watch meetings are open to the public, informal and everyone is welcome.

We always appreciate new interest and enthusiasm! You will connect with your neighbours and receive local information.

You can get in contact with the Area Coordinator, or just turn up. Find information about your nearest Area here.  

As this is a basic option, you will not be able to get involved in the organisation of the Area's activities or initiatives.

Join your local Area as a Neighbourhood Watch Supporter, delivering Neighbourhood Watch newsletters. By delivering newsletters you can help educate your local community.

To become a supporter complete a Neighbourhood Watch Supporter application form. Once completed, return it to your local police station with your ID. A police officer will receive the form and verify your ID.

Once you receive a letter from SAPOL advising you that you are a Supporter you are good to go!

If you want to do more than deliver newsletters you should consider option 3.

If you'd like to get more involved become a Neighbourhood Watch Police Volunteer. You can assume official roles or support with events and projects. It's up to you how you get involved. You could take on something that matches your skill set or try something new to develop your experiences.

To become a Police Volunteer contact your local police station and request to speak to a Local Volunteer Coordinator. You'll complete a short application form and have your ID verified by a Police Officer.

You will then attend a training session in your local area which will last 3 hours. It will include information about insurance, health, safety, welfare and performance management policies.

Once processed, you'll receive your Police Volunteer ID which means you are good to go!

This option will also open the door to SAPOL’s other volunteering roles.
