Neighbourhood Watch SA launching Facebook-only groups to improve community safety

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) intends to launch local Facebook groups in areas currently without NHW groups in an effort to improve communication on crime prevention and community connections throughout the State.

The program is initially focusing on Coober Pedy, Port Lincoln, Gawler and Port Pirie as these areas lack nearby NHW groups and have higher levels of crime.

According to NHW State Coordinator Kirsty Mudge, the program is seeking individuals from these regions who are community minded, have some experience using Facebook and have an hour or so to spare each week.

"Managing a Neighbourhood Watch Facebook group is easier than you might think,” she said “You can play an important role in keeping your community safe. You don’t need to be a Facebook expert. We will support you and provide the necessary training to get started. All you need is the willingness to make a difference in your community.”
