Arrests over serious assault at Gawler

Two men will face court today charged over a serious assault at Gawler last month.

About 12.10am on Monday 27 January, a man reported being assaulted by a group of three men on Murray Street, Gawler. One of the suspects was allegedly armed with a machete at the time.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Gawler South, sustained a serious laceration to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Following investigations, yesterday, Sunday 9 February, two men were arrested in connection with this incident.

A 22-year-old Pooraka man and a 24-year-old Prospect man were charged with aggravated affray.  The older man was also charged with aggravated cause serious harm.

They were both refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Investigations are continuing to identify and locate a third suspect.
