Chainsaws targeted in theft

24 Jun 2024 1:51pm

Barossa Police are investigating a break-in and theft of chainsaws and other power tools from a Tanunda business overnight.

Just before 1am on Monday 24 June, police and security responded to an alarm activation at a Murray Street, Tanunda business.

A break-in was discovered, believed to be a ram raid, and staff confirmed that 19 Stihl chainsaws, two Stihl cut off saws, a Stihl long reach trimmer and several Stihl equipment batteries had been stolen.

Crime scene investigators attended and examined the scene of the break-in.

Police are seeking information from the public to help identify the suspect and vehicle seen in CCTV.  While enroute to the alarm, security saw an older, dark single cab utility with a tray back, and possibly a small roo-bar, travelling west on Gomersal Road, in the 80 km/h zone.  The vehicle was travelling at speed and with high beams on.

Anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage from the area last night that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen Stihl equipment should contact police.
