Copper theft trio caught by real coppers

Police have located three men attempting to steal copper from an electrical pit in Lewiston.

Just after 3.30am this morning (Tuesday 17 December), police were called to the intersection of Fletcher Road and Dawkins Road, after reports of three men acting suspiciously near an electrical pit.

Patrols from Gawler and Elizabeth attended and located the group of men at the intersection of Dawkins and Boundary Road. Police will allege that these men had removed a length of copper cabling from the electrical pit.

The three men, a 35-year-old man from Andrews Farm, 41-year-old man from Blakeview and a 49-year-old man from Pennington were all arrested and charged with property damage and theft.

All three men have been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on January 29.
