Drivers caught in Barossa

Two drivers will appear in court after being stopped in the Barossa Valley yesterday.

About 6pm on Saturday 14 December, Police stopped a blue Holden Astra on Murray Street at Nuriootpa for a mobile driver testing.

Checks revealed the driver, a 36-year-old local woman, was disqualified from driving as a result her vehicle was impounded for 28 days.  She was reported for driving whilst being unlicensed and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About an hour and a half later, Police were conducting static driver testing on Murray Street at Tanunda when the stopped a Ford Territory station wagon and spoke with the driver.

The driver, a 48-year-old man from Redwood Park was breath tested and returned a positive reading of 0.106 – more than double the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving, his car was impounded for 28 days and he was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
