Man assaulted at Gawler

Police are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted at Gawler overnight.

About 12.10am on Monday 27 January, a man reported being assaulted by a group of three men on Murray Street. One of the suspects was armed with a machete at the time.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Gawler South, sustained a serious laceration to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Murray Street was closed for several hours while police examined the crime scene. It was reopened about 4.15am.

It is early in the investigation however the incident is not believed to be random.
