P plate driver caught speeding

20 Dec 2024 4:26pm

A teenager driver caught travelling more than 35km/h over the speed limit in Barossa Valley.

Just before 10pm on Wednesday 18 December, police stopped a Mitsubishi station wagon on Sturt Highway at Greenock after it was detected travelling at 147km/h.

Police spoke with the driver, a 19-year-old from Munno Para Downs.  Checks revealed he holds a provisional licence which permits drivers to travel at a maximum speed of 100 km/h.  In addition, the car was displaying only one P plate.

The teenager was fined for speeding, failing to display two p-plates and breaching a condition of his provisional licence.  As a result of his actions, the provisional driver will lose his licence.

Police will continue their pleas to the public to drive responsibly particularly over the busy holiday period.  Police remind road users to take responsibility for themselves and to consider the lives, health and wellbeing of others.
