A P-plater was caught speeding and drink driving at Mallala yesterday.

About 5.45pm on Monday 15 July, police were conducting speed detection duties on Dublin Road when they clocked a Hyundai sedan travelling at 130km/h in the 100km/h zone.

Checks on the driver, a 24-year-old Moonta Bay man, revealed he was a provisional licence holder. The man was breath tested, allegedly returning a positive reading of 0.064.

He was reported for exceeding the speed limit, drink driving and breach of his provisional licence conditions. His car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
