A P plater has lost his licence after being caught speeding in Gawler Belt this afternoon.

About 5.10pm Wednesday 29 January a police motorcycle officer from the State Traffic Enforcement Unit was conducting speed detection duties along the Sturt Highway when they clocked a Ford ute travelling at 169km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Police managed to stop the car and speak to the driver, a 19-year-old P-plater from Hewett. He lost his licence on the spot for six months and was issued a $2527 expiation notice.
