27 Apr 2025 6:52am

A driver has lost their licence after they were caught speeding at Greenock.

It will be alleged that just after 10pm on Saturday 26 April, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Sturt Highway when they recorded a Nissan sedan travelling at 179km/h in a 110km/h zone.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Christie Downs was issued with a fine of $1997 and nine demerit points.

He was also issued an immediate loss of licence notice for six months.

As the new school term starts tomorrow, police will be monitoring driver behaviour around schools and on main roads. Please keep an eye on speed limits and remember there will be an increase in pedestrians around school areas.
