Today (Saturday 30 November 2024), Detectives from the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team, a joint team between the South Australian Police and Federal Police arrested a 54-year-old man from the eastern suburbs for taking steps to access child exploitation material.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Lyons states, “My message to online offenders has not changed - if you procure, access and transmit child exploitation material, you will be found, arrested and prosecuted. If you think you are safe because you’re using anonymising technologies, think again. We will use any tool available to find you and put you before the courts.”

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report. If you or someone you know are impacted by child sexual abuse and online exploitation there are support services available at www.accce.gov.au/support.

The man was granted bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 28 January 2025.
