Building fire in the CBD

Just after 1.30 am, Saturday 28 September police and MFS were called to Franklin Street after reports of smoke coming from an unoccupied two storey building in the CBD.

Police and fire crews were quick to the scene and worked on bringing the blaze under control which was contained to the ground floor.

Thankfully there were no persons inside the building and there was no damage to surrounding buildings.

Crime Scene Investigators along with Fire Cause Investigators are attending the scene today to determine the cause of the fire.
