Car crash ends with court date

A teenager will appear in court after allegedly crashing his car into a wall at Pooraka early this morning.

Just before 2.30am on Sunday 30 June, patrols were called to the intersection of Montague Road and Henderson Avenue at Pooraka after reports a car crashed into a brick wall.

Witnesses stated they saw two people get out of the car and run north on Henderson Avenue.  One witness chased the teenagers until the lost sight of them on Hanley Street.

Dog Operations handler with PD Edge were called in to assist with the search of the suspects.  PD Edge tracked a scent to a nearby home in Pooraka where they located the registered owner and alleged driver of the silver Commodore sedan.

The 18-year-old P-plater was breath tested where he returned a positive result of 0.081.  He was reported for drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured car, breaching his licence conditions and driving without due care.  His was issued an immediate loss of licence for six months and his car was towed from the scene.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
