Car fire on the Parade

Police are investigating a car fire in an underground car park on the Parade, Norwood this morning.

Emergency services responded to the fire at the corner of the Parade and Osmond Terrace, Norwood at 6.20am on Wednesday 5 June.

A car in the underground section of the car park was fully engulfed in flames.

One car has been destroyed and others may have sustained damage.

A suspect was arrested at the scene.  The 33-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with arson.  He is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today or tomorrow.

The fuel fire is expected to continue to burn for some time, causing smoke in the area.

Motorists and the public are asked to avoid the area near the corner of the Parade and Osmond Terrace due to smoke.
