A man was arrested after allegedly running from a crash at North Adelaide in the early hours of this morning.

At 3.40am on Tuesday 11 June, police responded to reports of a car crashing into a traffic light at the intersection of Walkerville Terrace and Park Road, North Adelaide.  The driver had been seen running from the crash and heading up Walkerville Terrace.

Police obtained a description of the driver and called in Police Dogs Bandit and Cooper to help search the area.

PD Cooper and handler spotted the suspect in Torrens Street, Gilberton and then PD Bandit allegedly tracked him through rear yards until he was apprehended a short time later in the front yard of a house in Walkerville Terrace.

An examination of the vehicle revealed it was stolen and displaying stolen plates.  The Holden station wagon was towed from the scene.

A 32-year-old Craigmore man was arrested and charged with illegal use, drive disqualified, unlawfully on premises, unlawful possession and hinder police.  He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
