Entry onto school grounds arrest

A man has been arrested after he entered the yard of a childcare centre at Newton this morning.

Just before 10.30am today (Monday 17 June), police were called to the premises on Montacute Road after reports that a man had climbed the rear fence and was standing in the play area of the school.

No children or staff members were injured by the man, who left the yard and was quickly arrested nearby on Playford Road.

The 44-year-old Newton man has been arrested for being unlawfully on premises but will require a medical assessment before being charged.

Police are working with the Education Department and would like to thank staff and the public for their assistance.
