06 Jun 2024 6:38am

A man sustained serious injuries after becoming impaled on a fence at Parliament House overnight.

The man was jumping over the fence on the King William Road side of Parliament House about 12.30am on Thursday 6 June when he impaled himself through his wrist on a spike.

Luckily for him, he was noticed by security and emergency services responded immediately.

MFS and SAAS worked together to safely remove a section of the fence, and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

He will undergo surgery, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police will speak with the 42-year-old Grange man once he is medically able.
