Two men were arrested in the city this morning after allegedly breaking into a street post box.
Just after 3am on Monday 28 April, a police security officer spotted two men breaking into the red and yellow posting boxes in Gawler Place, Adelaide on CCTV and tasked patrols.
When patrols arrived, the pair tried to walk away and tossed items in nearby skips and bins. This was all captured on CCTV and police security were able to guide patrols to the discarded items, including a chisel, scissors and a skull face mask.
The pair were apprehended nearby with backpacks containing stolen mail.
The two men, both aged 35, from Brompton and Woodville South, were arrested and charged with theft of mail, property damage, going equipped to commit an offence. One of the men was also charged with possess a controlled drug after he was found with methamphetamine.
They did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
All the mail from the letterboxes was recovered by police and will be returned to Australia Post for delivery.
