Car fires at Blair Athol and Hawthorn

Police are investigating two car fires that occurred last night.

Just after 11.30pm, Sunday 25 August Police and MFS were called to Jaffery Street, Blair Athol after reports a Ford sedan was on fire.

MFS extinguished the blaze but the car has been extensively damaged.The vehicle was not stolen.

The second fire was reported just before midnight when Police and MFS were called to Egmont Terrace, Hawthorn after reports a Nissan SUV was on fire.

MFS extinguished the blaze but the vehicle was destroyed. Enquires showed the vehicle had been stolen from an address at O’Sullivan Beach in June.

Both car fires are being treated as suspicious and the two fires are not linked.
