Court appearance for driving offender

02 Sep 2024 9:39am

A man has been reported for driving offences in Happy Valley last night.

About 7.30pm on Sunday 1 September, police from SAPOL's Traffic Services Branch stopped a Toyota HiAce van on Happy Valley Drive after it was clocked travelling at 79 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Flagstaff Hill, submitted to a breath test where he provided a blood alcohol reading of 0.127.

While police were speaking with the man, they discovered the front tyres on the vehicle had exposed metal. This is extremely dangerous and could lead to failure of the tyre at any speed.  The car was subsequently defected and impounded for 28 days.

The man was reported for speeding and drink driving and issued an immediate loss of licence notice for six months.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
