05 Sep 2024 10:43am

A man will appear in court after driving under the influence in the southern suburbs.

It will be alleged that just after 4.30pm on Wednesday 4 September, police and emergency services were called to a fast food restaurant on Beach Road at Noarlunga Centre, after reports of an unconscious man inside a car that had crashed at low speed into a tree in the car park.

Police tried to wake the man up, but he was unresponsive.

Officers decided to smash a window of the man’s car so they could get him out of the vehicle to receive medical attention.

After the man was in the care of paramedics, officers searched the vehicle and located numerous illicit substances including methamphetamine, cannabis, prescription medication and fantasy. A search of the man's home later uncovered more illegal drugs.

The 29-year-old Seaford Rise man was taken to hospital for assessment and later released into police custody, where he was charged with trafficking a controlled drug, driving without due care and driving under the influence.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
