28 Aug 2024 4:42pm

A man will face court tomorrow after allegedly stealing sunglasses during a robbery at Noarlunga Centre yesterday afternoon.

Just after 1.30pm on Tuesday 27 August, police were called to the Colonnades Shopping Centre after reports that a man had stolen a pair of sunglasses from a sunglass store and threatened security guards with a knife. No one was injured.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect at the time.

Today, following investigations by Southern District CIB detectives and a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested about 1.15pm.

The 25-year-old Noarlunga Downs man was charged with aggravated robbery, unlawfully on premises and carry offensive weapon.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow, Thursday 29 August.

It will be alleged that during a search of a nearby home, the stolen sunglasses, knife and clothing worn during the robbery were located and seized by police.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the robbery at Colonnades Shopping Centre to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
