Two arrested at Hallett Cove in stolen car

Two people have been arrested in a stolen car last night.

Just before 11.30pm on Wednesday 21 August police spotted a BMW SUV on Brighton Road Glenelg East, checks revealed the car had been stolen from Tonsley on the 14 August.

The patrol didn’t attempt to stop the car but called in PolAir to assist from above.

The BMW was followed on Brighton Road Somerton Park where it was successfully spiked just after Diagonal Road.

The car continued on Lonsdale Road where it the travelled through the back streets of Hallett Cove, where it stopped on Heron Way.

The driver ran from the vehicle on to the Sheoak Track where he was quickly caught by patrols. The passenger from the vehicle did not flee the scene and was arrested in the car.

The 20- year-old male driver from Western Australia has been charged with illegal use, dangerous driving to escape police, due care and numerous traffic offences.

The 19-year-old female passenger also from WA  has been charged with illegal use.

Both have been refused bail and will attend in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later today. (Thursday 22 August).
