Teens arrested after stolen car drives onto O-Bahn track

02 Apr 2025 4:58pm

Six teenagers were arrested after police tracked a stolen car to the north-eastern suburbs this afternoon.  Two other stolen cars remain outstanding.

Just after 6am on Wednesday 2 April, a red 2016 Ford Mustang was reported stolen from the driveway of a Rosslyn Park home.

Police spotted the Mustang travelling south out of Bute about 11.15am before heading east on the Copper Coast Highway through to Port Wakefield.

Patrols set up cordons around the area and awaited PolAir to commence tracking the vehicle from the air.

The Mustang was tracked through Two Wells and Virginia and into the northern suburbs.

The stolen Mustang was spotted outside an Elizabeth North address and police moved in, swiftly arresting three suspects as they tried to flee out the back of the premises.

Another boy was subsequently located inside the house, hiding in the roof space.

Two suspects drove off in the stolen Mustang and then, about 12.45pm, drove onto the O-Bahn track at Tea Tree Plaza and travelled south for about two kilometres before becoming stuck near Welloch Street, Modbury.

Two people ran from the car and over fences of nearby houses but were quickly arrested by patrols.

Two Port Augusta teens, aged 14 and 19, were arrested and charged with illegal use.

The O-Bahn track was closed for several hours until a crane could remove the vehicle but was cleared just before 5 pm.

The four teens arrested at Elizabeth North are aged 14, 14, 16 and 16.  They have been charged with illegal use.

The 19-year-old man was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.  The youths will all appear in the Adelaide Youth Court tomorrow.

Investigations into this crime series are being conducted by Youth and Street Gang Task Force (Y&SGTF) and further charges may be laid.

Police are still looking for two outstanding stolen vehicles, a grey 2018 Nissan Qashqai sedan, registration S195BYZ, and a black 2010 Toyota Landcruiser, S169AGL (pictured below).

Anyone who spots either of the stolen vehicles is asked to report it to the police assistance line on 131 444, or Triple Zero in an emergency.
