Arrest over west coast bushfires

A man has been charged after allegedly setting fire to scrubland on the far West Coast.

About 4.45am Tuesday 17 December police ad CFS were called to the Eyre Highway about 30km east of Yalata after reports of approximately five bushfires burning in scrubland.

Police attended and located a 38-year-old Yalata at the scene. He was arrested and has been charged for causing a bushfire and breach of bail. He is expected to be refused bail and appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court.

This is a timely reminder to the public, if you see anyone acting suspiciously or lighting fires, to call police immediately on 131 444 or 000 in an emergency.
