Five people will face court after crashing a car in Whyalla Stuart yesterday.

About 5.490pm Monday 16 December police attempted to stop Holden Commodore as it travelled along Nicolson Avenue. The car did not pull over and police activated their emergency lights. The vehicle attempted to turn right onto Bastyan Crescent however failed to negotiate the turn and crashed into the kerb popping two tyres.

The five people inside the car ran from the scene, but the patrol quickly caught up with them.

The alleged driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged with dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, drive without due care, provide false name, unlicenced and drink driving after he returned a positive breath test of 0.145. He was issued a12 month loss of licence and refused bail to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court today.

A 20-year-old Whyalla Stuart woman was reported for give false answer to identify driver of motor vehicle. She will be summonsed to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court at a later date.
