A drink driver was detected after drinking in a dry zone at Whyalla on Sunday.
Police were called to the Whyalla foreshore about 3.45pm on Sunday 29 December in relation to a group of people drinking in a dry zone. Police attended and the parties were moved on.
A man was seen to move a vehicle into a car park and was submitted to a mobile driver test.
He returned a positive reading and allegedly attempted to run away from officers but was quickly arrested.
The 35-year-old Whyalla Stuart man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.175. He was charged with drink driving, hinder police and breaching the conditions of his learner's permit.
He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
