Homemade number plates lead to arrest

21 Feb 2025 8:28pm

A woman was charged with traffic offences at Ceduna yesterday.

About 5.30pm Thursday 20 police stopped a red Alfa Romeo for the purpose of submitting the driver to a random breath test. On closer inspection it was discovered that the registration plates on the vehicle were homemade and further did not match the vehicle's VIN number.

The driver, a 36-year-old Ceduna woman, presented a driver’s licence to police, however further checks revealed that the licence did not belong to her. Police systems showed the woman had never held a licence in any state or territory.

The woman was arrested and charged with unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed, false personal detail and incorrect number plate. She was bailed to appear at the Ceduna Magistrates Court on 7 April. The Alfa Romeo was seized for a period of 28 days.
