A man has been arrested after a crash in Port Lincoln.
It will be alleged that about 6.56pm on Sunday 9 February, police were called to Hermay Crescent, after reports of a vehicle doing burnouts. Patrols attended and were unable to locate the silver Ford sedan.
About 7.45pm patrols were on another tasking in Adelaide Place when they heard vehicle tyres screeching. Police conducted a search of the area and members of the public identified the vehicle parked on Bligh Street.
The car sped off and was located soon after in Cranston Street involving the vehicle. Police deemed the area unsafe due to the vehicle colliding with a Stobie pole, causing extensive damage.
The driver, a 33-year-old Port Lincoln man was arrested and charged with numerous offences including driving at a dangerous speed and assault emergency worker, after he allegedly assaulted two police officers during the arrest.
He was refused bail and remains in hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.
Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing to the public for any dashcam footage or CCTV that may have captured the vehicle and its driving abilities leading up to the crash.
Anyone with information that can assist police is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
