Police officers have been assaulted after attending a disturbance in Whyalla Stuart last night.

Just before 7pm on Tuesday 3 December, Police were called to an address at Whyalla Stuart after reports of a disturbance.

A man wanted for outstanding matters was located inside the home.  He tried to barricade himself inside a room as patrols entered in an attempt to arrest him.  The man was resisting violently and assaulted two police officers, one officer was bitten, and another was kicked.

A group of occupants inside the home also hindered and assaulted officers as they attempted to arrest the man.

The man was tasered and arrested.  A 32-year-old man from no fixed address was taken to hospital where he will require a medical assessment before being charged.

He will likely be charged with two counts of breaching an intervention order, two counts of assaulting a prescribed emergency worker and resisting arrest.

The officer who was bitten was taken to hospital where they were treated.

Investigations are ongoing.
