01 Dec 2024 6:14am

Police will be preparing a report for the State Coroner following the death of a fisherman on the Eyre Peninsula yesterday.

Just after 1.15 pm, Saturday 30 November, police were alerted to an overdue boat and fisherman who was last seen launching from the Anxious Bay boat ramp in Elliston.

The fisherman was believed to have been checking cray pots on the Peninsula and locals raised concern when he had not returned.

A search for the man was launched with the assistance of community members, but sadly the 77-year-old local man was located deceased in the water.

Police will be preparing a report for the coroner.
