Whyalla drink driver

A drink driver crashed into a stobie pole causing power outages in Whyalla yesterday.

About 6.30pm on Monday 17 June, Police attended Broadbent Terrace at Whyalla, after reports a car crashed into a stobie pole.

The driver left the scene prior to police arrival.  There was significant damage caused to the Ford sedan and stobie pole resulting in a lengthy power outage within Whyalla.

Police attended the registered owners address in Whyalla Jenkins and spoke to the driver, a 27-year-old man. He was breath tested and provided a positive result of 0.097.

The man was reported for aggravated driving without due care, drink driving, driving an unregistered vehicle and making a false report.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.  He was also issued a six-month immediate loss of licence.
