Boys arrested in stolen car

Four boys have been arrested after allegedly driving a stolen car from Whyalla to Port Augusta this morning.

About 8.10am Tuesday 18 February police were called to a service station on Norrie Street, Whyalla Norrie, after reports that a silver Holden Adventra had been stolen.

About 8.40am the car was spotted travelling north on the Eyre Highway before police lost sight of the vehicle.

About 9.05am the silver Holden was located dumped at Davenport.

Following an investigation, police located and arrested four boys; a 12-year-old from Port Augusta West, a 14-year-old from Whyalla Stuart and two 13-year-olds from Port Augusta.

They were all charged with a number of offences including illegal use of motor vehicle, dangerous driving and hinder.

The 12-year-old and 14-year-old were refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court tomorrow.

The other two boys were bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 14 May.
