A man has been arrested for drink driving in a stolen car at Port Augusta on Tuesday.

About 5.45pm on Tuesday 11 February, Police spotted a stolen Holden sedan parked on Young Street with its engine running and a man sitting in the driver's seat. The car had been reported stolen from Whyalla on Monday.

Police spoke with the driver and checks on his licence revealed he was disqualified from driving.

The man was breath tested and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.224, almost five times the legal limit for a fully licensed driver.

A 36-year-old man from Port Augusta was arrested for illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving unlicenced and drink driving. He was bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 31 March.
