12 Dec 2024 8:03am

Police have detected a driver almost six times the legal limit at Port Augusta yesterday.

About 2.30pm on Wednesday 11 December, police stopped a Holden sedan on Stirling Road and submitted the driver to a breath test.

The driver, a 48-year-old man from Davenport, allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.284. Checks on the man’s licence revealed that he was disqualified from driving and his car was unregistered.

The man was arrested for drink driving, driving disqualified, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He was also issued with a twelve-month instant licence disqualification. He was bailed to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 20 January.
