Update: Woman arrested after fatal crash at Copley

It will be alleged that about 6.30am today (Sunday 22 December), police and emergency services were called to Harris Street after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by an Isuzu ute.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old Whyalla Stuart woman died at the scene.

The ute then left the scene.

The driver of the ute, a 23-year-old woman was later located and arrested. She was charged with cause death by careless driving. She was granted bail to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 10 February 2025.

The womans death is the 84th life lost on South Australian Roads this year.
