Speeder caught in far north

27 Jun 2024 8:59am

A speeding driver has been detected in the far north yesterday.

About 2.15pm on Wednesday 26 June, Woomera Police were performing speed detection duties on the Stuart Highway at Oakden Hills when they detected a Ford Utility travelling at 149km/h in a 110km/h speed zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

A 26-year-old man from Salisbury North was issued an expiation notice for excessive speed totalling $1734.

Speeding is one of the major causes of death and serious injury on South Australian roads. The speed of a vehicle affects the risk of a crash happening and the severity of injuries likely to be sustained in a crash. Even a small change in speed can make a big difference in road trauma.
