A motorist has been fined after being caught speeding on the Stuart Highway yesterday.
About 3pm on Friday 14 March, Woomera Police were conducting speed detection duties on the Stuart Highway, south of Pimba, when they stopped a car for exceeding the speed limit.
The driver was detected travelling at 144km/h in a 110km/h speed zone.
A 42-year-old man from Roxby Downs was subsequently issued an expiation notice for excessive speed, totally $1786 and seven demerit points.
Speeding is one of the Fatal Five road behaviours that significantly increase the risk of being involved in a crash. Far North Police are urging people to slow down and stick to the posted speed limits.
