Police are investigating a break in of a car in the Davenport community where over $35,000 worth of camera equipment was stolen.
Just before 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 10 December), a member of the public attended at the Port Augusta Police station and reported that between 3pm and 3.30pm they were in the Davenport Community, when they had left their white Ford utility parked on Simmons Street outside the council office. Whilst they were away from their vehicle, unknown people have gained entry to the vehicle and stolen backpacks containing a large amount of multimedia equipment and personal items.
Upon reporting this to police, the victim advised that they had an air tag on some of the equipment and that it was indicating that the items were at a residence at Nunn Close, Davenport.
Patrols and Detectives from Port Augusta quickly attended the address, where they executed a general search warrant and located most of the stolen items. These items have been seized and are currently undergoing forensic examination. The vehicle the items were stolen from was not damaged and has already been forensically examined by local Crime Scene officers.
Police are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed anybody acting suspiciously in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
