A Flinders Ranges man will face serious firearms charges after a search of his property uncovered a cache of buried weapons.
Police attended the man’s property, located north of Quorn, yesterday (Thursday 2 January) as part of an investigation into the theft of firearms from a Quorn property in July 2023.
Police, including Serious Firearm Crime Investigation Section (SFCIS), Far North CIB detectives and patrols, with the assistance of Police Dog Orbit, conducted an extensive search of the rural property.
It will be alleged officers found five rifles, a pistol and numerous rounds of ammunition buried under a wool bale and logs.
The seized firearms will be forensically examined, and the investigation is ongoing.
The 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, aggravated possession of a prescribed firearm, aggravated possession of a H-class firearm, four counts of aggravated possession of a firearm without a licence and breach of intervention order.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court later today, Friday 3 January.
