Update - Man charged with murder in CBD

A man has been arrested for murder following a stabbing in the Adelaide CBD last night.

Just before 8pm Friday 8 November, police were called to an accommodation complex on Hindley Street after reports a person had been stabbed. The incident occurred within the premises.

When police arrived, they located a 23-year-old man at the scene with life threatening injuries. The man was rushed to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

The suspect had left prior to police arrival but was arrested a short time later near the River Torrens.

Eastern District and Major Crime Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 42-year-old man from St Marys was charged with murder and refused bail. He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 11 November.

The incident is not considered random, and the two men are known to each other.
