Update - Fatal crash at Elizabeth East

Major Crash are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash at Elizabeth East this morning.

At 8.20am, Tuesday 2 July, police were called to Midway Road with the intersection of Kinkaid Road after reports a Mitsubishi sedan had struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old local woman was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old local woman, was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Roads were closed in the area for several hours but have since reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The woman’s death is the 45th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
