Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has acknowledged that Upper House MP Frank Pangallo has used parliamentary privilege to pose questions to Police Minister Dan Cregan concerning the conduct of Inspector Wade Burns, a serving police officer.

A detailed briefing will be provided to the Minister so he can respond to the issues raised in parliament. Commissioner Stevens has no authority to prevent or restrict the reporting, publication or public commentary on matters raised under privilege in state parliament.

Mr Stevens will make no further comment on the matter at this time.
