High ranged drink driver caught in HFLSA

A speeding drink driver was caught at Highland Valley yesterday evening.

About 5.30pm Friday 7 March police were conducting speed detection duties on Wellington Road when they clocked a Mitsubishi Triton travelling at 112km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Police stopped the car and spoke to the driver, a 55-year-old Strathalbyn man, before submitting him to a breath test. He allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.207.

He was reported for speeding and drink driving and lost his licence on the spot for 12 months. His car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
