Man arrested after stealing cigars

A man was arrested after a robbery at a Mount Barker service station last night.

Police were called to the servo on Rainbird Drive, Mount Barker at 9.20pm on Wednesday 12 June after a man allegedly threatened staff with a piece of broken glass and stole cigars.

The attendant was shaken, but not physically injured during the incident.

Patrols obtained a description of the suspect and searched the area.

Less than an hour later, the suspect was located at a nearby Mount Barker address and arrested.

The 30-year-old Mount Barker man was charged with aggravated robbery.  He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court later today.
