Mount Torrens fire

13 Feb 2025 10:31am

A man has been reported following a fire at Mount Torrens yesterday.

About 3.20pm on Wednesday 12 February, a man was working on his property on Warmington Run when the power tool he was using created sparks and ignited the dry grass.

A fire erupted in the paddock and then spread to a neighbouring property.

Several CFS units attended along with aircraft support to fight the bushfire and they were able to contain the fire to paddocks about an hour later.

Approximately 18 hectares of land was burnt with damage caused to fencing but thankfully no other structures were involved.

A 49-year-old man from Mount Torrens was reported for recklessly causing a bushfire and regulatory offences under the Fire and Emergency Services Regulations. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
