Theft of copper piping from homes under construction

Police are investigating theft of copper piping from homes under construction in Mount Barker.

Between Wednesday 17 July and Thursday 18 July, unknown suspects have stolen copper piping from numerous houses under construction on Arabian Way and Equine Street.

Investigations are continuing and police are asking anyone with CCTV footage, or has information that may assist, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.

SA Police would like to remind members of the public that, building sites can be a target for theft of building materials including copper piping, electrical cable and wiring. To reduce the chance of theft on building sites, please consider the following tips:

  • Key lock doors and windows
  • Aim to have goods delivered and installed on the same day.
  • Consider marking materials with spray paint to make them less attractive to thieves
  • Store materials securely and out of general view
  • Consider using CCTV, cover patrols or private security.
  • Be aware of people loitering or removing materials from building sites.
  • Don't leave packaging from expensive items lying around the side.
