Drink drivers detected at Mount Gambier overnight

Limestone Coast Police detected two drink drivers overnight.

Last night, Monday 1 July, about 10.45pm, police received a report of a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the highway on Jubilee Highway East, Mount Gambier.

Police located the vehicle and the driver, a 76-year-old Mount Gambier woman, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.075.  She was reported for drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 3.15am today, Tuesday 2 July, police received a report of an intoxicated driver on Penola Road, Mount Gambier.

The driver, a 25-year-old Suttontown man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.202 - more than four times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and breaching the conditions of his probationary licence.  He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days. He will appear in court at a later date.
